Fact or Fiction: Bed Bugs Can Transmit Human Diseases

FICTION

Bed bugs have been tested on transmitting over 45 different human maladies and none have been shown to be able to transmit to humans. This includes virus’s, bacteria’s, spirochetes, etc., that may come in contact or ingested with the bed bug.

Research has shown that even mechanical transmission of any of these disease-causing agents in the fecal matter when they are feeding or digesting their blood meals, is not possible. When this occurs and the fecal matter lands on the skin there is almost no moisture in the fecal matter. This makes any live virus’s, bacteria’s, spirochetes, etc., to be denatured very rapidly and no longer disease causing.
